2008 Honorary Hosts
The 2008 Taste the Future Honorary Hosts were Lewis R. and Genevieve W. Smoot and the Smoot Family.
In 1956, Sherman R. Smoot moved his family and the business to Columbus, Ohio. Shortly thereafter, The Sherman R. Smoot Company became supportive of our community and building a better quality of life for residents of Central Ohio and beyond. Today, his son, Lewis R. Smoot, Sr. is President and CEO of The Smoot Corporation and its subsidiaries. Lewis Sr. and his wife, Genevieve, continue to enrich our community through their business and philanthropic endeavors, their leadership in community organizations and giving of their time and resources.
In 2008 we are proud to have Genevieve and Lewis R. Smoot, Sr. as the Honorary Hosts for the 20th anniversary of Columbus State's Taste the Future Culinary Gala. Mr. and Mrs. Smoot have been long time supporters of Columbus State Community College and the Taste the Future event.
Their sons, Lewis R. Smoot, Jr. and Richard R. Smoot, are both Columbus State Alumnus. Lewis Jr. currently serves on the Columbus State Development Foundation Board and leads the foundation's 'Support What Works' campaign. The entire Smoot family is committed to helping provide access to quality and affordable higher education opportunities for everyone and they believe strongly in giving back. They generously give of their time and strengthening educational institutions, arts, cultural and community organizations and hospitals. Smoot Construction also plays an important role in the overall economic development in the Columbus area.
We salute Mr. and Mrs. Smoot for their generosity and dedication and appreciate their service as the Honorary Hosts of this special 20th Anniversary Taste the Future.
