2010 Honorary Hosts
David & Tracy Harrison
On July 1, Dr. David Harrison began his service as the fifth president of Columbus State Community College.
Before coming to Columbus State, Dr. Harrison was Vice Provost of Regional Campuses for the University of Central Florida since 2004. During this time he was responsible for building strategic partnerships with the University of Central Florida and area community colleges, businesses and K-12 programs. In this role, David Harrison led all functions at 11 campus locations in seven counties. Under his leadership, more UCF degrees were offered on community college campuses, and the number of transfer students earning bachelor’s degrees increased significantly.
His wife, Tracy Harrison is also deeply involved with higher education and community colleges. Most recently, Tracy worked as a reading professor for Valencia Community College and continues to consult on issues in higher education.
Dr. Harrison has strong ties to Ohio including degrees from Ohio State University and the University of Dayton and he spent an early portion of his professional career at Sinclair Community College in Dayton. He grew up in suburban Cincinnati.
